Long-lasting finish A natural coloration process manipulates the tannic acid or colour impregnations present in the wood, making the wood around 30% lighter, i.e. softer, during the first 3 to 6 months. The wood is treated with a very strong hard wax polish that penetrates deep into its pores. The finish is resistant to lactic acid and therefore suitable for use in kitchens as well as meeting the requirements of DIN 68861 1A / DIN 53160. It also complies with the tough demands of EN 71 for children's toys. Following treatment, a set of brushes works hard to polish the plank. And once polishing is completed, the whole process is repeated so that a total of more than 70 grams of hard wax is used on every m². It takes another 10 to 30 days of heavy distressing and constant processing to make the wood completely moisture-resistant. The whole process results in a resistance of around 24 hours against moisture and 12 hours against acetone. |
